Objects of my Affection
all the things I'm currently coveting
I wanted a place to put all the things I love. A glimpse of what’s lighting me up lately.
My “top shelf,” so to speak, of the things I’d text you about because I just can’t get over them.
A small, ever-changing collection of my infatuations. I hope something here finds you at the right moment.
WHAT I’M WEARING:
KOZHA NUMBERS
Kozha makes the coolest bags I’ve ever seen. And they get even cooler when you find out they’re a small, woman-founded brand and everything is handmade in Portland, Oregon. Each one feels like a piece of art, and anytime I wear one (I now have two!), they’re an instant conversation starter.
I have the Orbit Bag and a limited-edition brown mid-sized bag I got at their sample sale, but I have my eye on the Lucky 25 or the Sable Bag for my next work bag. I honestly couldn’t think more highly of them.
WHAT’S ON MY TOP SHELF:
CROWN AFFAIR
I have to admit, I’m having a bit of an infatuation with Crown Affair hair care right now. I had heard the hype and finally got on board. And yes, their hair towel is somehow way more amazing than what I had before, and cuts drying time in half.
I’m also currently figuring out how to style my wavy hair, and I’ve found that brushing it out before I shower, then using the towel to dry, and following with the Air Dry Mousse works pretty damn well.
My latest addition is the Overnight Repair Serum. I love the ritual of giving my hair a little extra nourishment before bed, and it really helps with dryness. You wake up with your hair feeling so much more refreshed.
Next, I want to try the Smoothing Air Dry Hair Styling Cream to see if it helps with a bit of frizz. I’ll keep you posted!
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
THIS DANCE by KYRIL
One of my love languages is sending and receiving songs from friends. It really does feel like a little step inside their brain and whatever mood they’re in. And listening to it feels like it puts you on the same frequency.
My friend Olivia always sends me the best songs, and the second I heard this one I knew I A. couldn’t wait to blast it while driving on a sunny day with the windows down, and B. use it as a cooldown the next time I teach my JazzFit dance class.
The vibes feel like joy, lightness, and celebration. And really, in this day and age, what more could we ask for?
WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT:
THE 2026 PLANET BEAUTIFUL CAMPAIGN
This is what I mean when I say cool brands doing cool things. And I’m really honored to be partnered with Saie in helping share the Planet Beautiful initiative.
When I talk about conscious beauty, yes, it’s about ingredients, but arguably, the bigger part of the conversation is sustainability and being intentional with every purchase. This year, for the Planet Beautiful campaign, Saie and eleven other climate-minded brands have come together with Sephora and rePurpose Global with a shared mission to recover 1.2 million pounds of global plastic waste. It’s a massive, collective effort, and one that hasn’t been done at this magnitude before.
The beauty industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging every year, and most of it never gets recycled. To better picture that number, think roughly 23 million lipstick tubes or 34 million mascara wands worth of waste.
The initiative is supporting plastic recovery efforts across four countries: Kenya, India, Indonesia, and Colombia, while also funding a dedicated Planet Beautiful site in Lamu, Kenya. Through Bahari Safi, a local collection site, plastic waste is transformed into sustainable materials for infrastructure, while also supporting the creation of 2,000 jobs for women.
This Earth Month, shop from the participating brands at Sephora and $1 from every product sold goes toward the campaign. Each $1 helps remove approximately 2.5 lbs of plastic from nature. With the Sephora giveback ($1 for every purchase during the matching period, up to $100k), there’s potential to increase the 1.2 million pounds of plastic recovery by an additional 250k lbs.
If you want to learn more, I highly recommend reading through Saie’s Impact Report. You can also explore and shop the featured Planet Beautiful products here, along with some of my personal favorites from the participating brands that I truly recommend again and again.
I feel really proud to be a part of this campaign and help spread the word, and really grateful to Saie and their team for leading with intention in this space. Sustainability in the beauty industry is complex and nuanced, but this is the kind of action and like-minded momentum I want to support.
WHAT I’M CONSUMING:
BIRD BY BIRD by ANNE LAMOTT
Let’s hear it for Anne Lamott! She has this way of speaking wisdom with humor and so much gentleness. This book is about writing, this is where the famous Shitty First Draft essay comes from, but it touches on so much more. I honestly love every sentence she writes. And as a perfectionist myself, this one felt like a little exhale. If you’re the same way, get this book. Highly recommend!
WHAT’S KEEPING ME MOVING:
SWEAT SESSIONS STUDIO by AUBRE WINTERS
I’ve taken a lot of fitness classes in my day (ClassPass in NYC circa 2016… IYKYK), and I’m constantly impressed by Aubre’s online class format, creativity, and class sequencing. As a teacher myself… respect! Every on-demand or live class is challenging and feels fresh, new, and super energized.
Whether you want to do a full Pilates flow to Taylor Swift on the beat or lift heavy and sweat through a strength class, it’s all there for you. It’s a little pricey for an online platform, but she offers a free week trial to test it out!
WHAT’S HELPING ME STAY ROSIE:
MIRACLE SEASON!!!
Spring and summer in my world are known as Miracle Season. And honestly, do I even need to explain? It’s all there. After a long, grey winter in Oregon, the colors of spring feel truly electric. Everything feels like a little miracle of its own.
It brings such a lightness to my mood and my life, and has me dreaming of the warmer days ahead.
I hope Miracle Season is finding you, too.
MY MANTRA:
I’m on a quest to build a life that’s unmistakably mine.🤍
